Hebrew SeniorLife (HSL) is a 100+-year-old organization dedicated to providing seniors with the highest quality of life through an integrated network of health care, research, housing and teaching programs in the Greater Boston area. It is the largest nonprofit provider of senior health care and housing in New England. Our mission is to honor our elders by respecting and promoting their independence, spiritual vigor, dignity and choice and by recognizing that they are a resource to be cherished. Our health-care network comprises Hebrew Rehabilitation Center, a long-term, sub-acute, and long-term medical acute care facility in Boston; three senior housing sites-Jack Satter House in Revere, Simon C. Fireman Community in Randolph, and Center Communities of Brookline; and Orchard Cove, a life-care community in Canton. The Institute for Aging Research in Boston, affiliated with Harvard Medical School, is one of the most prestigious aging research facilities in the country. HSL's NewBridge on the Charles, our premier multigenerational continuing care retirement community in Dedham, consists of 256 independent living units, 50 assisted living units, 41 memory support assisted living units, and a 268-bed Health Care Center, which offers long-term and sub-acute care. Hebrew SeniorLife also offers services to the community, including Adult Day Health programs and outpatient clinics in audiology, exercise, memory disorders, osteoporosis screening, and rehabilitation.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Controller within our Hebrew Rehabilitation Center (HRC), wholly owned subsidiary of Hebrew SeniorLife. Reporting to the VP of Fiscal Services, you will be a 'hands-on'? manager, responsible for general ledger accounting, financial reporting, annual audits, billing, accounts receivable, and internal controls for HRC and its affiliated operation, the Institute for Aging Research (IFAR). You will also lead the centralization of the accounts payable and payroll functions for all of the entities under Hebrew SeniorLife, including HRC, NewBridge on the Charles, Orchard Cove, Center Communities of Brookline, Satter House and the Simon C. Fireman Community. The position will also involve managing department personnel activities including hiring, training, and scheduling staff members, establishing performance standards, and evaluating performance. You will provide the leadership necessary to drive the department towards meeting their goals.

Bachelors or Master's Degree in Accounting, Business or Public Administration, or Finance is required. CPA preferred. Six to ten years of relevant progressive experience in a hospital corporate accounting environment, supervising direct reports is required. It is essential for you to have a keen sense of process management and the ability to drive process change and improvement. Experience with a medical teaching facility and research grants is a plus. You should have expertise with healthcare financial accounting software. You must have demonstrated ability to effectively manage a budget, manage staff, recruit, train, motivate, and mentor. You must be proactive and results-oriented; have an optimistic and positive demeanor, with the ability to maintain a collaborative environment; have the ability to adapt to changing priorities and display good, sound judgment; superb organizational and analytical skills; streamline work volume in order to maintain bottom line efforts. You should be innovative, think strategically and conceptually; manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines with a high degree of accuracy. Ability to quantify operational decisions and offer value added or cost savings alternatives without sacrificing member services or organization's mission.
